Do You Need to Read Music?
NO!! I repeat... NO!! NO!! NO!!
(You might want to later, but for now, FahGitAboudIt!!!)
You might ask, "How the %@$$ can anyone learn all that theory stuff without a whole bunch of work?
Answer:
Reading about theory, thinking about what you are reading, then putting it into use immediately on your instrument is all that is required of you. You can learn to find the "ZONE" without learning how to read music:
- You will be able to learn about other culture's musical alphabet and grammer.
- You will be able to use visualizations and simple formulas that work in every setting, every time.
- You will be able to play anything effortlessly, with the "right" rhythms, and the "right" notes, and with the "right" tone.
- ...AND, you won't have to think about anything at all; you will be able to relax and "SURRENDER" to the spirit of the muse.
- ...and then you will be in the ZONE... all the time, with no fear or apprehension; there will only be peace and confidence and comprehension.
... THE FOUR PART NATURE OF MAN
The first steps in the process of learning involve the Mind and Body together in a focused program... this is the WOODSHED
- Fill the Mind with knowledge (Intellectual Strength)

>Read

>Study

>Think
- Train the Body (Physical Strength)- Practice

>Scales

>Chords

>Chord Progressions

>Rhythms

>Arpeggio's

>Melodic Patterns

>Rhythmic Patterns

Note: Practicing these things will also involve the mind, so it is an evolving process: the more you study, the more you will practice, which will create more questions and technical issues which will lead to more reading and study.
This won't involve a lot of money, because most of the knowledge you need can be found right here on the internet, and I am going to do my best to put within your reach easily and without cost.
This will all happen at your pace and comfort level, so there is absolutely NO pressure on you; there won't be a quiz after period 3, OK?
